Safe Moves for Seniors currently provides funded moving services
for eligible older adults in Allegheny County.
Before applying for Safe Moves for Seniors services, please read and acknowledge the following:

This program provides the transport of household goods free of charge to senior citizens over 60 years of age. We will do our best to help you pack and provide materials, but that part of the service is not guaranteed.

All applicants must be eligible financially by earning $1250 or less per month. This service is for those who have NO OTHER MEANS to move their belongings to their new residence.

All moves are local - we do not move anyone more than 10 miles from their original home address.

We do not allow more than 40 boxes in addition to necessary furniture to be on the truck on the day of the move. The total pounds we can transport is 3000.

If you have a Section 8 Voucher, this must be shown to a Safe Moves for Seniors representative during their first visit to your home.

Service Coordination
We help choose a qualified, affordable, and respectful moving company. We supervise all aspects of the move and pack for our clients who need help.
Packing & Unpacking
At Safe Moves for Seniors, we are dedicated to making sure all of our clients' possessions are packed safely and securely - from wedding albums to lamp shades!
Moving with Dignity
With this initiative, our goal is to promote opportunities for our clients to move when THEY choose to move and not just be at the mercy of an available friend or neighbor who "might" be able to help.
